I'm just starting to plan for a home theater setup. At this point, I
have some idea of the functionality that I want, but I've done very
little in the way of research. I definitely want the following:

* Connect screen (LCD, plasma, or projector) to PC
* Connect screen to gaming system such as an XBox
* Use screen to display family pictures
* Ability to stream video from a file server

I work in IT, so I should be able to handle all the technical stuff.
What I need right now are some good reliable sources of information on
everything from the best screen size for the size of my room, to optimal
viewing distances, to the important technical specs that need to be
considered.

What are some of the better information sources for DIY home theaters?

Thanks for any information that you can offer.

I use a projector connected to satellite TV, computer, etc. The screen can
adjusted as you like & the resolution is better than my LCD TV.
